Welcome home

College student writers are on the brink of flying or failing with each writing assignment. As a college professor, I stand on that cliff with them, working to shore up their wings so they may take flight.

This website is a grand classroom experiment for a number of classes.

At home in Murray, Kentucky, my public relations content creation class manages the content and social media for The Postcards From the Brink Website and they write for “On the Verge,” a micro influencer blog for travel and tourism in Western Kentucky—where the Murray State University Racers are located.

I also take students abroad where we study travel writing in all its forms. “Precipice” is the result of our studies and travels.

Finally, “Battered Luggage” is a personal blog from me, a mass communication professor who takes students abroad and teaches mostly writing, public relations and journalism courses. I also manage tours and some marketing for Total Travel Services, Inc.

I am just trying to practice what I preach!
