Dr. Marcie Hinton

Journalism scholar and public relations professor, Dr. Marcie Hinton ponders the intersection of writing and action.

In the classroom, she uses writing exercises and case studies to make her points, but her favorite thing to do is take students to places like England, Italy and France learn about media and tourism, while practicing travel writing.

Her scholarship and professional service is a mix of place branding and public diplomacy, Martha Gellhorn’s war-torn travel writing and travel influencing. She reads magazines, books and cookbooks, but takes special interest in travel essays and pasta recipes.

She has a book of case studies called "Applied Public Relations: Cases in Stakeholder Management," which she co-authored with Dr. Kathy Brittain Richardson. She is currently working on a manuscript about movies and place branding.
